Rickard Metals’ projects range from high-strength vessels that travel the ocean deep to rocket booster segments for launching manned vehicles into space. For example, we were commissioned to provide 6AL-4V-Eli Titanium fabrication of the escape mechanism for NASA’s Ares Orion rocket (often erroneously called the Aries Orion rocket). This escape mechanism on the Ares I will boost the Orion crew capsule clear in the event of an Ares malfunction. The Ares I and Orion crew capsule are part of NASA’s Project Constellation, a program that will launch the next generation of human spaceflight.
